Every Thursday (except on public holidays) from 07:00 to 13:00, various traders offer their goods for sale on the market square and in Altenkirchen's pedestrian zone. So you can find here usually about the fresh products such as fish, cheese, fruit, vegetables, bread, eggs, meat and potatoes also honey products directly from the producer, pickled specialties, flowers or textiles.
Depending on the season and weather, the range of goods changes and the weekly market is always a meeting place to exchange news and see friends.
The multigenerational house "Mittendrin", Wilhelmstr. 10 also invites to the "Market Breakfast". Here is then always open from 9:30 to 12:00.
You can also visit the public library of the Protestant church community of Altenkirchen on market day (opening hours on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., except during school vacations, see www.buecherei-ak.de ).
In addition, every Thursday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. the Historical Quarter in Marktstraße 31/33 is open, where you can find changing picture exhibitions and historical objects. Drop by and immerse yourself in the history of Altenkirchen.
Maybe there will be again the "Musik zur Marktzeit" in the ev. church at the Schlossplatz. Around 11 a.m. you will often find musicians who offer a little musical time-out on the organ or other instruments.
And before you head back home, you can still enjoy the best of our catering establishments. Many of them also offer special lunch menus on this day.
If Thursday falls on a public holiday, the market will take place one day earlier (Wednesday).
