Description

Your adventure starts in the charming Bad Marienberg. This tour is packed with highlights, so plan extra time for stops. If you ride counterclockwise, starting in Bad Marienberg, you'll quickly reach Großseifen. Here awaits a small art park along the bike path. Near Langenbach by Kirburg, you'll encounter a former mining lake. As soon as you leave the village behind, you'll relish the view of a vast plateau.

On the way to Kirburg, you'll cross a stone bridge over the Nister. Approaching Bad Marienberg from the other side, consider a stop at the wildlife park or perhaps challenge yourself at the climbing forest. Between Unnau-Korb and Nistertal, make a short detour to Nisterfurt and Nistersteg. The tour concludes with an impressive view of the Erbacher Railway Bridge from the railroad path above Nistertal. This bridge, opened in 1911, was once Germany's largest concrete bridge.

Directions

Follow the Nister Cycle Path from Bad Marienberg towards Rennerod, pass through Großseifen to Fehl-Ritzhausen. Then take the gently ascending asphalt path to Hof. Here, the Westerwald Loop leads westwards to Nisterberg and downhill to Lautzenbrücken. Just before that, the route turns right, leading to the Wiesental of the Kleine Nister. At the next intersection of cycle paths, head to Langenbach and traverse the village. A kilometer further, a pleasant field path heads west to Neunkhausen. The subsequent hilly forest path to Kirburg is about two kilometers long. From Kirburg, continue towards Bad Marienberg. The wildlife park is ideal for a stop, not only for the animals but also for the good gastronomy. From here (31 kilometers), you can shortcut and ride directly to Bad Marienberg or complete your circular tour as planned. In the latter case, you ride once more into the Nistertal and return via a new railway path to the starting point.
