Hachenburg

Beust's house

Detailed description

Coming from a family of officials working at the court of the Counts of Sayn-Hachenburg, Albertine von Grün engaged not only in literature but also in painting, mathematics, and foreign languages. She was a great admirer of Goethe and maintained correspondence with friends from his circle. While the front of the house features an early classicist facade, the other side still shows the old half-timbering. This combination is likely also due to the rebuilding after the great fire in the city. In the vaulted cellar of the historic house, there remains an old well.

Brief description

In the late medieval house, redesigned in 1766, the German poet Albertine von Grün (1749-1792) lived for a time.
