The castle paths are laid out as circular paths, so that in principle you can enter the path anywhere.
Burgweg 2 in the Puderbach countryFrom the starting point the three castle paths (1+2+3) still run together. The Burgweg leads from here uphill in the direction of Steimel. Arrived in Steimel, the path passes the "Haus Neitzert", where works of art by Karl Bruchhäuser can be viewed (www.bruchhaeser-stiftung.de). The trail continues through the market square, where the nationally known Steimel potato market takes place in the fall. From there, the trail continues through the forest in the direction of Reichenstein. The path leads directly past the ruins of Reichenstein Castle. The ruin can be visited by prior arrangement (www.burgruine-reichenstein.de). The castle paths 2+3 lead uphill in Reichenstein towards the county road between Dürrholz and Döttesfeld. After crossing the county road, the trail descends into the idyllic Werlenbach valley. Here the two paths separate. The Burgweg 2 now leads through the Werlenbach valley to the nature adventure trail Dürrholz. In parts, the Burgweg runs across the grounds of the trail. A separate visit to the nature trail is recommended. Afterwards, the trail goes partly through the village of Daufenbach in order to enjoy the distant views into the Siebengebirge Mountains shortly thereafter along the trail that runs past the edge of the forest. It continues along great forest paths back to the starting point in Puderbach. The Burgweg 2 has a length of approx. 16.5 km.
Wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing that is suitable for the weather and protects you from the cold and wet or the heat and sun. Take enough liquid with you. There are not refreshment stops everywhere. Please wear hiking shoes appropriate for the trail, which give you sufficient grip even on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths. If you are of the opinion that certain sections of the trail are not passable for you, then you should avoid them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, muddy and slippery passages can occur on natural trails. Especially in the fall, also be aware that leaves lying on the ground can hide bumps, roots, rocks or holes in the path. You should expect trail obstructions of this nature when you go on a hike. Although the trail is very well marked throughout, you should always have a suitable trail map with you for safety reasons.
