With guitar, harmonica, and an unchecked mouth, Weiherer presents yet again in his new program a kind of unprepared chatter with musical interludes – characteristically spontaneous, witty, and straightforward. Somewhere between musical cabaret, songwriting, quirky stories, and political activism, the performances of the Lower Bavarian choice of Oberbayer is more roughly carved craftsmanship than finely polished art, and his hilariously absurd observations of everyday life have long become cult.
The brave musician with a heart for madness and whimsy has been singing punchy songs for over two decades with great commitment and not infrequently with genuine, heartfelt anger. In the best tradition of folk singing, he does not hold back on his biting criticism and hearty sayings – mostly politically incorrect, often ruthlessly funny, but always courageous. A fascinating stubborn head with the sly chuckle of a trickster, intelligent lyrics, captivating music, and grandiose biting humor.
Weiherer is a unique storyteller who, without batting an eye, transitions from one topic to another while simultaneously keeping his audience in cheerful, albeit breathless, suspense from the first to the last second. His statements and song lyrics reflect an equally sensitive and wise worldview; he is interested in the big picture, the act of looking and reaching out, even when it hurts. The listener is in the same boat with Weiherer, admiring his navigational skills through all this madness. Through a world full of questions and without answers.
