Detailed description

The commande in Waldbreitbach, the former house of the Teutonic Knights, is first mentioned in the year 1239 and is located above the parish church of Mary Assumption. In 1260, Countess Mechthildis of Neuerburg transferred the patronage of the parish of Waldbreitbach to the Teutonic Knights. At the same time, the parish church was constructed. In 1929, the commande came into the possession of the Waldbreitbach Franciscan nuns. Meanwhile, the listed commande is in private ownership. The historically significant building, which is nearly 800 years old in parts, has been carefully and comprehensively renovated by experts.
