A true treasure trove: ore deposits, valuable spring water and a sophisticated timber industry are typical of the local cultural history. On your tour you will explore ancient hollow ways, millennia-old iron smelting sites and refresh yourself with fresh spring water. Information boards along the edge of the historic forest paths provide you with exciting background information.

You start from the hiking car park opposite the "Erzquell Brewery" with an ascent on the yellow marked access path. On a forest path running along the Sieg slope, you reach the former Rabenstollen, where you have your first opportunity to rest with refreshing spring water from the depths of the Giebelberg. The comfortable forest path winds its way through high deciduous forest and opens up under an imposing rock face to a kind of prayer room in the green - the "Mariengrotte". After several bends in the path, you reach a coppice area managed according to old traditions with old sunken paths. Then, lonely horse pastures in the Oehlsbachtal give you a clear view of picturesque views. Back in the forest, individual giant trees on the ridge are impressive - they still mark the boundaries of the former coppice areas today. A picnic area in front of the Erzquell tunnel (beer has been brewed from the tunnel's spring water since 1885) invites you to take a rest. Due to the loss of spruce stands, the landscape is repeatedly characterized by open areas of forest renewal. Information boards provide information about traces of iron mining during the La Tène period. Above the Schindebach, relics of medieval mining can be seen - funnel-shaped "pinges" can be explored along the path. These depressions in the terrain, lined up one after the other, are evidence of former ore mining pits. The tour then leads downhill through the Schindebach valley back to the starting point.
