The rock group Hohe Ley is a popular spot for hikers and walkers on the left side of the Sieg River above Mudersbach, offering excellent views into the Siegtal. In 2004, the first Marian statue of the Mariengrotto was affixed here from the opposite side of the Sieg.
The prominent rock formation is located on the left bank of the Sieg River, at an altitude of 365 meters above sea level, in the Mudersbacher Hauberg, in the district of Mudersbach. Pillow-shaped bumps around the mountain cross indicate underwater volcanoes. The rock formation, along with the Birker Ley, was placed under protection on August 13, 1986. It is reported that a Mudersbach innkeeper erected a cross on the mountain summit in 1915. It became customary to hoist an Easter flag there on the festival of the Resurrection of the Lord on Good Friday. Around 1955, the regulars' table "Zur Linde" took over the care and maintenance of the cross and the site in the rock sea. In 1981, a memorial plaque was placed on the cross for Sister Edmundine, who passed away in 1973. She had dedicated herself tirelessly to the care of the elderly and sick and had made significant contributions to the construction of the first old people's home "Sankt Josef." The inscription reads: "Because she was always ready, may this cross be dedicated to her. Sister Edmundine 1897 - 1973." During the Easter season, the regulars' table "Zur Linde" installs a lit cross, and during the Christmas season, a star with a tail that is mounted on the hill below the Ley. In 2004, the first statue of Mary was placed on the Hohen Ley by the regulars' table "Zur Linde," inviting visitors to linger in the beautiful nature. From Hohen Ley or the hill below, along the hiking trail XS (Sieghöhenweg) and M3, one can enjoy a magnificent view over Mudersbach and the Sieg Valley.
