This hike combines nature experiences and culinary delights and is an ideal day trip.

Approach

- From Cologne: A3 motorway exit Hennef/Sieg via B8 and B414 to Bad Marienberg

- From Frankfurt: A3 motorway exit Limburg via B54 and B414 to Bad Marienberg

- From Dortmund: A45 exit Haiger/Burbach via B54 and B414 to Bad Marienberg

- From Gießen: A45 motorway exit Herborn via B255 and B414 to Bad Marienberg

- From Koblenz: A48 motorway and A3 Montabaur exit via B255 to Bad Marienberg

Accessible by train and bus

Take the train to the Nistertal or Westerburg stop. Continue by bus to Bad Marienberg, bus stop Neuerweg.

Parking

Large free car park at the Bad Marienberg wildlife park.

Directions

The hike starts at the Bad Marienberg Wildlife Park, an ideal starting point for discovering the nature around the Marienberger Höhe.

From here, the trail leads to the Kleiner Wolfstein and Großer Wolfstein, two impressive rock formations that rise strikingly out of the forest and offer interesting geological insights.

The route continues over the Eisenkaute. The next stop is the ‘Hohensayn’ ostrich farm near Lautzenbrücken. If the weather is good, you can take a break here in the SchönwetterCafe and enjoy homemade specialities such as cakes, waffles and freshly baked bread.

After your break, the trail continues towards Kirburg and back to Bad Marienberg Wildlife Park.

Back at the wildlife park, you can enjoy a relaxing end to your hike. This hike combines nature experience and culinary delights and is an ideal day trip.

Particularly in autumn, it is important to be aware that leaves lying on the ground can hide uneven surfaces, roots, stones or holes in the path.

This type of path impairment is to be expected on every hike.
