Brief description

The only waterfall on the Westerwald basalt plateau.

Detailed description

The "Leyenbach Waterfall" is located in the forest between the districts of Nenderoth and Odersberg. The only waterfall on the Westerwald basalt plateau has a total drop of 10 m with a main drop of 4 m. While the stone and rock formations are more impressive when the water level is low, a romantic water feature can be observed during heavy precipitation and when the snow melts. A visit is also worthwhile in winter, when the frost shapes the water into bizarre ice sculptures. The waterfall is one of three geotopes in the municipality of Greifenstein.
