The descriptive panels tell me a lot about the forest and meadows, trees, animals and make the round tour particularly varied and informative. There are picnic facilities at the car park at Oberroder Knoten or at the clubhouse of the "Früh auf" sports fishing club.
No direct public transport connection available.
Free hikers' car park "Oberroder Knoten". Directly on the K47 between Oberrod and Mademühlen (50.604574, 8.137920).
At the beginning of my tour, I enjoy the distant view from the small resting place with a comfortable wave lounger. In front of the lovingly created insect hotel nearby, I observe the lively activity of wild bees, bumblebees, butterflies and co. I stroll on in the direction of the ski lift and knots, and after leaving the sparse deciduous forest behind me, the next great view awaits me, including a cosy resting bench - this time with a view of Oberroder's "local mountain", the Goldberg. My way to the "Holzmännchen" pond of the "Früh auf" Oberrod 1973 e. V. sports fishing club is adorned with numerous information boards that give me an insight into the species-rich local flora and fauna. I then take a relaxed walk back to my starting point around the wooded basalt hilltop of Mabühl, which gave the village its name and which used to serve as a quarry for the inhabitants of the village.
Although the trail is very well marked throughout, for safety reasons I should always have a suitable hiking map or smartphone with the tour description.
Sturdy shoes are recommended for the hike.
