Weyerbusch

Raiffeisen Monument

Detailed description

From 1845 to 1848 Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen was the mayor of Weyerbusch. In 1847 he founded the "Brodverein" and laid the foundation for an idea that went around the world - the cooperative idea. He taught people that successful help in the long term can be effective only through collective self-help: "One for all, all for one." To commemorate 150 years of "Brodverein", the Raiffeisen monument in Weyerbusch was officially inaugurated in 1997.
