Stein-Wingert

Stone island on the Weltende nature trail

Hint / Advice

After heavy or prolonged rainfall, the Steisel may be impassable due to higher water levels. Additionally, the stones can be slippery even in dry weather.

Equipment

Since Steinsel is accessible on foot via the nature trail Weltende, sturdy footwear should be worn, as this path is a nature-oriented hiking trail.

Brief description

Steinsel to cross the Nister at Stein-Wingert.

Detailed description

The Steinsel can be used as a crossing of the Nister during the hike on the nature trail Weltende - making it a true highlight on this hiking route. Since the river, which traverses the Westerwald from its source at Willingen to its mouth in Wissen, is very flat at this point, the stone blocks can be easily used for crossing.
The Steinsel cannot be accessed by car. One can follow the signage of the nature trail Weltende.
