Description

Until now, the Westerwald was not necessarily known as a destination for outdoor climbing adventures. This has changed, as there is now a new, fascinating destination for exciting climbing sessions on steep walls - the via ferrata in Stöffel Park. It is located on the imposing 28 metre-high Brechergebäude 1, a rope-secured facility with artificial holds that is the ultimate destination for all climbing enthusiasts.

The fee is 10 euros per person for adults and 6 euros per person for children up to and including the age of 14, plus 50% of the reduced entrance fee to the Stöffel Park. In addition, a deposit of 10 euros is charged for the key.

Directions

The via ferrata runs along the edge of an outdoor silo and allows you to scale the imposing façade of the crusher building. The challenges range from vertical climbing metres to technically demanding passages. The highest point offers a breathtaking view over the valley before continuing through the wall and along edges and traverses.

The route ends with a "no hand rest" and leads climbers safely back to the ground. Using the steel cable exclusively for protection and mastering the route in the lower fifth degree of difficulty requires skill and fitness.

The view rewards the effort, and after the adventure you can be proud of your achievement. Experienced climbers can also try the via ferrata on their own after booking.

Safety instructions

As the via ferrata has the lower fifth level of difficulty (UIAA), there are a few conditions to be observed: Please register in advance, bring at least one climbing partner and present a DAV lead climbing licence.

Use of the via ferrata is at your own risk and subject to written acceptance of the rules of use and the disclaimer.

Equipment

You are secured with a climbing harness and via ferrata set on a steel cable that runs along the route.

Tips

Register as an individual for one of the climbing events (group size 4-6 people) and get to know like-minded people (event partner: Teamwerk Westerwald).
