Description

Raiffeisen naturally started his walk from his birthplace. However, you could also start the walk from Au (Sieg) railway station. From Raiffeisenstraße in Hamm, the route leads to Mümmelbach and Uferstraße. If the weather is good, you can take your first break here in the beer garden of the Gasthof zum Siegtal, while the children let off steam in the playground or watch the animals in the neighbouring wildlife enclosure. Then it's a leisurely stroll along the Sieg, past the Siegbogen, along scenic paths. Take a seat on a bench and enjoy the view, slow down! You can also stop for a bite to eat in Hamm (Sieg), where more restaurants and cafés await you. In the Alte Vogtei, you can experience Raiffeisen's history up close while feasting. Be sure to make a detour to the Evangelical Church beforehand, where Raiffeisen was baptised. Right next to it is the Raiffeisen Column, with all the stages of his life.
