Approach

Coming from Neuwied, follow the L255 to Waldbreitbach Mitte. Turn left onto Marktstrasse. After approx. 100 m you will reach the large parking lot.

Directions

From the parking lot, follow the WesterwaldSteig access road straight ahead to Wied and then walk 300 m to the right. Here it goes left over the bridge and directly left again. After 100 m go right and after 50 m (information board) turn right into the forest. You are now on the WesterwaldSteig rating path in the area of ​​the former "Katzenschleif iron ore mine". On the ridge at Over there is the opportunity to enjoy panoramic views in almost all directions and to pause for a short time. Follow the WesterwaldSteig further past Walburg Castle into the Wallbachtal. The three-storey quarry stone building of Walburg Castle towers high above the Wied and is now privately owned. In the valley, turn right onto the Wiedweg via Gasbitze back towards Waldbreitbach. At the Wiedhof campsite, cross the Wied on a suspension bridge and follow the L255 to the right for 100 m. Then turn left into the forest following the Wiedweg past the Jewish cemetery. From there you go into the village and cross the K90. Here you turn right on the W2 past the over 800 year old renovated Commende and the parish church Maria Himmelfahrt, which was built by the knights of the Teutonic Order at the beginning of the 13th century, back to the starting point. You will find the tourist information and a few restaurants and cafes 100 m from the parking lot at your starting point.

Each section of the path is marked as a hiking path with at least one independent marker. It is expressly pointed out that this adventure loop does not have a consistently independent marker. Thus, orientation security in the area and basic knowledge of map studies are required.
