IMPORTANT:

From 1st May to 1st September 2024, there will be train cancellations and rail replacement services (RB 90) on weekends between Altenkirchen and Westerburg. Directions

The access path from Nistertal-Bad Marienberg station to the main trail is approximately 1 km long. In Unnau-Korb, a 600-metre-long access path leads to the station.

Safety instructions

  • If you feel that certain sections of the path are not walkable for you, you should avoid them. Particularly in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can become muddy and slippery.
  • In autumn, it is especially important to be aware that fallen leaves on the ground may cover uneven surfaces, roots, stones, or holes in the path. You should expect such obstructions when hiking.
  • Although the trail is very well marked throughout, for safety reasons, you should always carry an appropriate hiking map or download the free app "Rheinland-Pfalz erleben."

Equipment

  • Wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate, functional clothing that protects you from cold and wet conditions, or from heat and sun.
  • Take enough water with you, as refreshment opportunities are not available everywhere.
  • Please wear suitable hiking boots that provide adequate support on slippery, steep, rocky, or uneven paths.

Tips

Park your car at the endpoint and first take the train to the starting point of your tour. Then you can walk back relaxed and without any time pressure.
