The Wied, the longest river in the Westerwald, gives its name to the approx. 110 km long Wiedweg trail. The Wied significantly characterises the western part of the Westerwald and shapes large parts of the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park.
The starting point of the hiking trail is the source of the Wied near Linden, from where it follows narrow, near-natural paths directly along the still small body of water to Dreifelden on the Westerwald lake district. From Dreifelder Weiher, the route takes you along the sometimes calm, sometimes lively Wied to the finish in Neuwied am Rhein. Charming views and unspoilt nature are guaranteed.
The long-distance hiking trail is divided into 7 daily stages and can also be hiked individually.
The Wiedweg is signposted with a blue W on a white background. It guides the hiker safely and without gaps.
